Composition & Mechanical Properties
| Grade / UNS | Ni % | Cu % | Fe % | Mn % | C % | Si % | S % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nickel 200 N02200 | ≥99.0 | ≤0.25 | ≤0.40 | ≤0.35 | ≤0.15 | ≤0.35 | ≤0.010 |
| Nickel 201 N02201 | ≥99.0 | ≤0.25 | ≤0.40 | ≤0.35 | ≤0.020 | ≤0.35 | ≤0.010 |
Composition values are mass percentages. ≤ indicates a maximum; ≥ indicates a minimum.

- ¹ Annealed sheet and strip elongation is 30% for 0.010–0.049 in. thickness and 35% for 0.050–0.109 in.; the 40% figure applies outside those stated ranges.
- Yield requirements exclude thicknesses below 0.020 in. (0.51 mm). Cold-rolled strip tensile and elongation values exclude thicknesses below 0.010 in. (0.25 mm).
- Deep-drawing and spinning-quality products use the separate grain-size and hardness provisions.
- Nickel is determined by difference. Elongation uses a 2 in. / 50 mm or 4D gauge length.
From material form
to gasket component.
Review the listed material grade and its delivery condition when selecting winding strip or ring stock for a specified gasket design.
Material standards and gasket standards serve different purposes.
ASTM B162 addresses the material forms identified on this page. Finished metallic gasket requirements are addressed separately by the applicable gasket standard.

Which website material grades are included?
Nickel 200, Nickel 201.
What edition is used for these tables?
The tables use ASTM B162-99 (2005).
Are material properties independent of condition?
No. The mechanical table identifies the applicable product form, condition and dimensional range for each listed row.
